The latest Gallup poll, which has Bush's approval rating at 37%, has another tidbit which should give Democrats hope for November.
Byron York reports the following:
In answer to the question, "In general, are you satisfied or dissatisfied with the way things are going in the United States at this time?" the results are 33 percent satisfied, 65 percent dissatisfied. The 33 percent is up from 25 percent satisfaction in May; the 65 percent is down from 72 percent dissatisfaction in May.
So 33% of Americans believe the country is on the right track, with 65% saying it's on the wrong track.
In summer of 2002, 49% said we were on the right track, 47% said we weren't.
In summer 1998 (height of the Lewinsky scandal), 60% said we were on the right track, and only 36% said we were on the wrong track.
And at this time in 1994, the numbers were exactly what they are today...33% saying we're on the right track, 65% saying we're not.
